StoryWalk

To celebrate the Autumnal Equinox on Sunday, September 22, 2024, we have updated our StoryWalk!

As trees sway in the cool breeze, blue jays head south, and leaves change their colors, everyone knows–autumn is on its way!

Join a young girl as she takes a walk through forest and town, greeting all the signs of the coming season. In a series of conversations with every flower and creature and gust of wind, she says good-bye to summer and welcomes autumn.

Even though the pool is closed there is still so much to do at Memorial Park! Visit the playground, or check out the exercise equipment, or visit the dog park. Take a moment to celebrate the season with Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn.

Learn more about our StoryWalk and get additional reading recommendations and activity ideas. Share pictures and updates with us at #baynestorywalk.

*This project is made possible by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds for the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

American Girl Dolls at Bayne!

Thanks to the Allegheny County Library Association’s Youth Services, two American Girl dolls are now available to borrow! Julie is a historical doll from 1974 and Tenney was a doll of the year in 2017. You must come into the library to check them out. Check out some of the fun they had over the weekend!

The girls read a little Jane Austen…
…and they made our craft of the week – Earth Day flowers!
Their checkers game got a little heated, but they remembered it’s important to be kind.
They soaked up the sun outside…
…and had a blast swinging!
