StoryWalk

The pool may be closed but Memorial Park is still worth a visit! Our new Storywalk* is up!

A squirrel is chittering. Bees are buzzing. The sun is high in the sky. And Little Owl is supposed to be asleep, but when he wakes up early, he’s just too curious to close his eyes again. The forest he knows so well at nighttime is completely different – and exciting – in the day! After watching butterflies dance, wolf pups play, and then his very first rainbow, Little Owl returns to his tree. He has many new stories for his mama.

So talk a walk, get some fresh air, and check in with Owl and his friends. Learn more about our StoryWalk and get additional reading recommendations and activity ideas. Share pictures and updates with us at #baynestorywalk.

*This project is made possible by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds for the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

American Girl Dolls at Bayne!

Thanks to the Allegheny County Library Association’s Youth Services, two American Girl dolls are now available to borrow! Julie is a historical doll from 1974 and Tenney was a doll of the year in 2017. You must come into the library to check them out. Check out some of the fun they had over the weekend!

The girls read a little Jane Austen…
…and they made our craft of the week – Earth Day flowers!
Their checkers game got a little heated, but they remembered it’s important to be kind.
They soaked up the sun outside…
…and had a blast swinging!

Art Cart

Stop by after school (3:15-4:30) Monday-Thursday to make some art with our new art cart, generously provided by Friends of Bayne Library!
