Snow Sensory Play

So nice, let’s do it twice! Join us Monday from 10:30-12 for a pop-up Sensory Play time all about snow! This is a drop-in program; please stay as long as you want! This is appropriate for ages 5 and under with a caregiver.

Early Literacy Kits Available Now!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Allegheny County Library Association, we are proud to offer Early Literacy Kits to our youngest patrons! Each kit is available for families with infants under the age of one year. You will find books, songs and fingerplays, an egg shaker and scarf to wave, early literacy tips, book lists (available at the library!) a fashionable bib, and more. Return a second time (and sign up for a library card!) with your coupon and receive a third book!

Children’s Winter Reading

Our Children’s Winter Reading Program starts today! The first 50 children to complete the program (10 chapter books or 50 picture books between January 3-March 21st) will receive a certificate for a free kids’ scoop of ice cream from Scoops in Bellevue! Stop by the library to sign up today!

Thank you to Scoops for your generous support of our program! #BayneKids

January Storytimes and Programs!

While we are on a break this week from programming, we can’t wait to see you again beginning next week for our regularly scheduled Baby Lapsit, Preschool Storytime, and Five & Under Friday! Please note that there will not be Music & Movement on Friday, January 13th, due to scheduling conflicts. You can enjoy another day of playtime instead!

Look out for a Wednesday evening storytime once a month in 2023! This month’s theme is frozen stories, where you can make a snowflake craft and take it home with you!

Please note: There will not be a Music & Movement in January. A Social Playtime will take its place.

Health & Wellness with Sesame Street

Join us on January 21st from 11-1 to discover ways to stay healthy with the help of Sesame Street! Sort fruits and veggies, pretend you are a doctor or dentist, and try a healthy recipe from the Sesame Street Cookbook!

This program is best for ages 2-6 years with their families. Please register here so that we know how many snacks to prepare!

Please note that no characters will be appearing at this program.

Special thanks to WQED Education for their partnership and sponsoring of this program!

American Girl Dolls at Bayne!

Thanks to the Allegheny County Library Association’s Youth Services, two American Girl dolls are now available to borrow! Julie is a historical doll from 1974 and Tenney was a doll of the year in 2017. You must come into the library to check them out. Check out some of the fun they had over the weekend!

The girls read a little Jane Austen…
…and they made our craft of the week – Earth Day flowers!
Their checkers game got a little heated, but they remembered it’s important to be kind.
They soaked up the sun outside…
…and had a blast swinging!

Art Cart

Stop by after school (3:15-4:30) Monday-Thursday to make some art with our new art cart, generously provided by Friends of Bayne Library!
