Rudolph H. Esterhammer was born in Pittsburgh on October 11, 1898.  He was a clerk at Pressed Steel Car Company. He enlisted in Bellevue on August 1, 1918. He served in Company 3, 1st Shop Regt Camp Johnston until September 2, 2018, and then served overseas from September 13, 1918 through June 21, 1919. He was honorably discharged on June 23, 1919 at Camp Dix in New Jersey. He died at the young age of 22 years old on March 5th, 1921. He was interred at St. Peters Cemetery of Pittsburgh. His father was George Esterhammer, his mother was Elizabeth Bonnet Esterhammer, his brother was George Esterhammer Jr., and his sisters were G.W. Ludebuehl, Anna Esterhammer, and Elsie Esterhammer.  The family lived at 147 North Fremont Street in Bellevue.
