Summer Reading

Kids

Our Kids Summer Reading is back in person and better than ever. Stop by the library and pick up reading logs to earn raffle tickets and prizes between 6/7/25-8/9/25. Be sure to stop by for our kick-off, Saturday, 6/7/25 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a free book, bubbles, chalk, art, outdoor fun, and popsicles! (Yes, adults, you can sign up then, too!) Complete BINGO cards weekly (Baby/Toddler or Kid/Teen) for an additional raffle ticket. You can also earn a raffle ticket for each Bayne program you attend this summer!

Kids raffle prizes this summer include $25 gift cards to Eat N Park, Vintage Max Bookstore, Scoops in Bellevue, Erin’s Hallmark, and Tavern Pizza.

Teen

If you are between the ages of 10*-18, you can earn a raffle ticket for each book you read! Just sign up between 6/7/25-8/9/25 and you’ll be on your way to one of our great raffle prizes!

Teen raffle prizes this summer include $25 gift cards to Vintage Max Bookstore, Secret Manga Shop, Scoops in Bellevue, Ulta, and GameStop!

*Children aged 10-12 can decide if they want to participate in our Kids or Teen program!*

Adult

Adults deserve rewards for summer reading too! Sign up between 6/7/25-8/9/25 to earn raffle tickets for each book read. You can then enter them in drawings for some amazing gift cards to some awesome Bellevue businesses!

Adult raffle prizes this summer include $25 gift cards to Vintage Max Bookstore, Moon & Yarn Craft Room, Wunderbar Bellevue, Bellevue Beans, and Lincoln Avenue Brewery.

Kids Programming

Tuesday Toddler Time

Join us Tuesdays at 10:30 for Tuesday Toddler Time! Perfect for ages 18 months-3 years with a caregiver, we will read stories, sing, dance, clap, and play instruments together. Stay and play afterwards!

Try-It Tuesday

Join us every Tuesday for “Try-It Tuesday”! Intended for grades K-6, these 1 hour programs will introduce you to a new skill. Programs will take place outside as weather permits.

  • 6/10/25, 1:00 p.m.: Allegheny County Parks – Mr. McSlithers the Snake visits
  • 6/17/25, 1:00 p.m.: Carnegie Science Center – Dinosaur Discovery
  • 6/24/25, 1:00 p.m.: JP Gallery for the Performing Arts – Dance – Please note that due to expected heat indexes, this program will now take place INSIDE at JP Gallery for the Performing Arts at 2 N Balph Avenue, a quick walk from the library parking lot. JP Gallery is not handicapped accessible or stroller-friendly.
  • 7/1/25, 2 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Zoo Zoomobile
  • 7/8/25, 1:00 p.m.: Soccer Shots – All ages 3+ welcome!
  • 7/15/25, 1:00p.m.: Safety with the Bellevue Fire Department
  • 7/22/25, 1:30 p.m.: Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh – Wildlife Rehab 101
  • 7/29/25, 1:00 p.m.: Alcosan – Marble Runs

Baby Lapsit

A story time for our littlest friends on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Babies up to 18 months will enjoy stories, songs, and bounces.

Pre-School Storytime

A story-time and activity geared towards our pre-school aged friends (3-5) with an adult caregiver every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Join us on July 10th for a special program with our partners at WQED Pittsburgh – Work It Out Wombats! Perfect for all kids ages 3-7. This program will be different stations set up around the children’s area.

Select Fridays – Art With Art Imagined

Join us June 13th & 20th and July 11th at 10:30 to make some art with Ms. Heather of Art Imagined! All ages are welcome to attend.

Adult Programming

There’s fun for adults this summer, too! Join us for Book Club the second Tuesday of the month at 2 PM and Classics Book Club the fourth Tuesday of the month at 2 PM!
