2nd Lieutenant Henry Walter Brunner was born in Pittsburgh on March 4, 1892. He worked as a welder with the Steel City Welding Company in Youngstown, Ohio. He registered on May 29, 1917. From June 1, 1918 to May 20, 1919 he served overseas in Company K, 319th Infantry, and was promoted to a 2nd Lieutenant on March, 23, 1919. He was honorably discharged on June 11, 1919 at Camp Sherman. He died on June 29, 1921 and was buried in Smithfield East End cemetery on July 2, 1921.His father was Henry Brunner, and his mother was Mary Brunner. The family lived at 158 Kendell Avenue in Bellevue.
