Summer Learning–Week of June 21st

Thanks to our friends at the Allegheny County Library Association and amazing organizations of the Allegheny Regional Asset District, we are offering kids opportunities to learn new things all summer! This week, get outside with the Allegheny County Parks Department and the Allegheny Land Trust this week. Complete the bingo card below and you could win gift cards to Spark Books.

Owls with the Allegheny County Parks Department

Who, who, who is out in the parks at night? Owls of course! Discover the different adaptations these amazing birds have evolved to help them survive at night.

Coding Kits

We loved our kids coding club almost as much as the kids, but since, we can’t meet in person, we are sharing our coding kits with you!

Stop by and check out our Coding Kits in the Juvenile Room! Each kit includes a game or toy, handy guides to help you get started, and programming challenges.

Current kits include:

  • Let’s Go Code
  • Ozobot
  • Turing Tumble

These items were part of a Computational Thinking Kit given to the Library through a statewide initiative that was funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
